Alec Mills pitched 4.1 innings of scoreless baseball and even though Joe Maddon used Kyle Ryan, one of his best relievers, for only one batter, the Cubs offense shit the bed once again, leading to a 2-1 loss on Friday.
Not that the Cubs had a good chance to win the division entering this series, but after losing four straight they’re now five games back of the Cardinals in the division. But forget about that because now the Cubs are 1.5 games back of the Brewers for the second Wild Card spot.
The Brewers have nine games left this season against the Pirates, Reds and Rockies.
