Mitch Trubisky Had The Most Bizzare Encounter With a Packers Fan

-

Mitch Trubisky is entering his third season in the NFL. By now he’s encountered almost every sort of fan there is. The majority are the usual types. Passionate people who love the game and follow it every year. Then there are the diehards who take a little too seriously, and either views him as the second coming of God or a false prophet who will never save their beloved Chicago Bears. However, once in a while he encounters somebody even he hasn’t seen before.

One took place earlier this year at an event Pilsen’s Harrison Park. There Trubisky was attending an event promoted by Nike to encourage young children to stay active. The day itself went well. He threw passes to kids, worked them through drills and had fun with them. After that, he did his best to sign as many autographs as possible before his schedule forced him to depart.

It was then, according to Nick Greene of Chicago Magazine, he had arguably the weirdest moment involving a Bears (?) fan in his life.

On his way out, as he walks to a waiting SUV, Trubisky passes a T-ball game, and a smattering of parents yell from the stands: “Mitch!” “Super Bowl!” “Mitchell!” A man wearing a Bears shirt bellows, bizarrely, “Go Packers! Let’s go Packers!”

Mitch Trubisky had to wonder what universe that guy was from

It’s hard to understand what the situation was there. Was the guy a Packers fan who lost a bet and had to wear a Bears shirt to the event? Did he wear the shirt on purpose so as to avoid razzing from the many Bears fans who were in attendance? Or was he just cracking a joke and nobody thought was funny? The only person who knows for sure is the man himself and the odds of Trubisky seeing him again to ask aren’t likely.

If nothing else, he’ll have a chance to finally offer a proper reply on September 5th when the Packers visit Soldier Field. It will be the first time in years that Chicago has opened the season against Green Bay at home. It’s almost always been Lambeau Field where the meetings took place. After vanquishing the Packers for the division title last year, the aura of invincibility is long gone. It should be fun to watch.
