Cubs Add New Reliever To Bullpen

-

Right-hander Alec Mills saved the Cubs bullpen this past week, pitching 10 innings in relief combined in two blowout losses to the Reds and Phillies. His reward? A trip back to Triple-A.

After pitching six innings on Wednesday night, Mills has been sent back to the minors. The Cubs need a fresh arm, so right-hander James Norwood has been called up. Though, it will most likely be just for tonight because Brandon Kintzler is expected to return from the injured list Friday.

Norwood pitched a scoreless inning in his only appearance for the Cubs back in May. He made his MLB debut in 2018 with the Cubs, allowing five runs in 11 innings.

The right-hander has 69 strikeouts in 49.2 innings at Triple-A this season.
