Willson Contreras made his first MLB start in right field Wednesday night and it paid off late in the game. With the Cubs clinging to a 5-4 lead, the Pirates got a base hit with Melky Cabrera at second base in the eighth.
Contreras threw out Cabrera to protect that one-run lead.
The Pirates drew a one-out walk, then Contreras couldn’t get to a ball after a long run in right field and then Addison Russell threw the ball home with one out and of course because he has the weakest arm ever the throw was late.
The Pirates hit a sac-fly to win it 6-5.
