WHITE SOX DFA YONDER ALONSO!!!

-

It needed to be done, it probably took a month too long to do it, but the White Sox have reportedly DFA’d Yonder Alonso.

GOODBYE!

Alonso was brought on to back up Jose Abreu(?) but everyone knew he was Manny Machado’s brother-in-law. That didn’t end up mattering, as all Alonso did was say how great of a place San Diego was. Then, he hit .178 in 219 at-bats this year before the White Sox finally decided enough was enough.

Alonso’s 2019 salary is $8 million. He’ll still get that, but at least he won’t be taking up a roster spot anymore.

There will be several roster moves by the White Sox before they start this weekend’s series against the Twins. Tim Anderson will go on the injured list, a pitcher will be called up to start Friday and now they’ll replace Alonso on the roster as well.
