Well, Ricky Renteria didn’t take long to shit on the hope that Dylan Covey’s injury would lead to the White Sox calling up star pitching prospect Dylan Cease.

Before Sunday’s series finale against the Royals, Covey was placed on the injured list with a shoulder issue.

Soooo, Dylan Cease time?!?!?!

Nope.

Instead, the White Sox called up right-hander Thyago Vieira.

Going forward the White Sox have a day off on June 12 and June 17. So, if Renteria wanted to, the White Sox could simply go with a four-man rotation for the next couple weeks. There’s also the chance that they decide to go with a bullpen day, which the White Sox have previously done this year, when Manny Bañuelos was on the injured list.

Well, Cease and White Sox fans will have to keep waiting for his arrival. So far in 2019, the young right-hander has a 3.46 ERA in 10 starts. He’s only allowed more than three earned runs in one start this year.
