Craig Kimbrel Won’t Be Taking Pedro Strop’s Jersey Number

There was a video Thursday morning that kind of freaked out some Cubs fans. Well, maybe not freaked out, but it was odd. The Craig Kimbrel signing had already been reported and then this was posted.

Kimbrel’s worn the #46 his entire MLB, but you don’t normally see free agents come in and get jersey numbers from veterans. Pedro Strop has been with the Cubs since 2013 and has worn the #46 all along.

Anyway, Kimbrel won’t be taking Strop’s number after all and instead will wear #24.

Leonys Martin and Alec Mills have worn #24 in 2017 and 2018, respectively, after Dexter Fowler had it for two years.
