Another Top White Sox Prospect Gets Promoted

-

This is great news and a big test for White Sox prospect Nick Madrigal. The fifth ranked prospect in the White Sox minor league system has been promoted to Double-A.

The 2018 first round pick had a slow start at Winston-Salem this season, but Madrigal has found his groove during the past month.

Overall in 49 games, the second baseman slashed .272/.346/.377, with two home runs, 27 RBIs, 17 walks and six strikeouts.

Madrigal’s contact tool will be put to the test at Double-A. At 22-years-old, he’s pretty much shown he won’t ever hit for much power, so he has to hit for a high average. More importantly, he has to make good contact. The level of pitching in Double-A will be much better and a great test for Madrigal.

And he’ll be reunited with Luis Robert, who was promoted to Birmingham earlier this season and has continued his dominance.

In 92 minor league games, Madrigal is hitting .286, with a .349 OBP.
