Another Chance For The White Sox 2015 1st Round Pick

-

Left-handed pitcher Manny Bañuelos is headed back to the injured list and his departure from the White Sox pitching staff is giving former first round pick Carson Fulmer yet another chance in the majors.

The White Sox announced the move before Wednesday night’s game against the Cubs.

This is the fourth time the White Sox called up Fulmer this season and he just hasn’t been good. In 10.1 innings, Fulmer has 11 strikeouts, while issuing 11 walks and allowing 11 hits.

Since making his MLB debut in 2015, Fulmer has pitched 77.2 innings, posting a 6.72 ERA and 1.69 WHIP. His only stretch of success came in 2017, when he had a 3.86 ERA 23.1 innings, making five starts and two relief appearances for the White Sox. Other than that, pretty rough for the former top-100 prospect.

Once projected as a starter pitching for the White Sox, Fulmer is now just a guy who has minor league options and gets called up whenever there’s an injury in the bullpen.
