Allen Robinson Says Mitch Trubisky is More Ruthless In Practice Than Ever

-

One of the interesting nuggets that came out of the Chicago Bears locker room when Mitch Trubisky first arrived on the team in 2017? It was his subtle competitiveness in practice. Leonard Floyd and others indicated that he would try to beat the defense whenever possible and would do it with a smile on his face. That’s what led to one of his more popular nicknames, the “Pretty Boy Assassin.”

Since then he has still tried to get his shots in but was never able to press too hard. After all, he’s been facing one of the best defenses in the league every time he steps on the field. He had to know his place in the pecking order. Accepting it? Well, that’s another story. It was a matter of waiting until he had the proper tools to truly fight back.

His favorite wide receiver Allen Robinson believes that moment has come. With a sudden rich pool of talent around him and increased comfort in the offensive system, Trubisky has reportedly been getting after the defense more than ever.

“He’s a very impressionable guy when you meet him. The fire that he brings to the table and stuff like that. But I think the biggest thing now is he really wants to dissect the defense. I think that’s the biggest thing. I mean we’re in this mode where we want to make plays. We’re not just getting ourselves into completions or running plays to be run. We’re really trying to attack the defense and really beat the defense each and every play.”

Mitch Trubisky won’t say it, but he sounds like a man on a mission

Trubisky endeavors to state off social media and just focus on his job. He’s not deaf or blind though. He knows what people are saying about him. That he is merely a product of Matt Nagy’s offensive expertise. He is an erratic passer who will never be on the level of the top quarterbacks in the league. Such things can have one of two effects. They either discourage the young player or they steel his resolve to show them all how wrong they are.

It appears the latter is becoming the case for Trubisky. He carries himself with more confidence when talking to the media. His responses are calm and clear. All signs out of practice are that he’s much sharper than he was a year ago. Everything hints at a young football player who is not only ready but eager to show the world that it isn’t wise to doubt him.
