Who has a perfect save percentage and hasn’t blown a game this year? Tyler Chatwood.

Boom. Case closed. Tyler Chatwood is the best closer in MLB. Sorry, that’s just how things are now.

Well, at least for one day.

No, but seriously, it is unbelievable that a year after walking a billion hitters, Chatwood is now the most, second most(?) dependable reliever in the Cubs bullpen.

Yu Darvish gave up five runs through seven innings and he came out to pitch the eighth because that’s how little Joe Maddon trusts anyone in the bullpen. Darvish gave up a game-tying home run and then one more baserunner reached before he was pulled. Kyle Ryan and Dillon Maples finished the inning.

The Cubs, like they did on Friday, regained the lead in the eighth, as David Bote had an RBI-double and Kyle Schwarber added a sac-fly to make it 8-6.

Maddon went to Chatwood for the save and things of course started poorly, as he allowed back-to-back singles and then fell behind 2-0 to the next batter.

But then Chatwood did what he does best, getting a double play and then a pop up to right field to end it.

Cubs win. Fuck it. Make Chatwood the closer.
