Top Rookie QB Lives in Fear of Playing Against Khalil Mack

-

Dwayne Haskins is a confident young man. With good reason too. He set an Ohio State school record with 50 touchdown passes in 2018. He was the 1st round pick of the Washington Redskins. He’s got all the tools from size to arm strength and pocket poise. Yet he’s still human. Haskins has fears like everybody else, and one of them is Khalil Mack.

Haskins is a native of New Jersey and went to school in Ohio. So was in close proximity to Mack during his epic rise at the University of Buffalo before heading off to dominate at Oakland. The only thing Haskins could be grateful for was that he never had to stare across the line of scrimmage at that monster in college.

Well sadly for him, that could change early in 2019. The Redskins play against the Chicago Bears in week three of the coming season. That means Haskins may have to realize his greatest football fear as he told TMZ.

It’s not hard to understand why Haskins is afraid. Mack is one of the most devastating pass rushers in the NFL. Last season he had 12.5 sacks for the Bears. This despite missing two games with an ankle injury. Even when hobbled he’s not to be taken lightly. Then there is the fact that Haskins is not exactly what one would call mobile.

He’s considered more of a classic pocket passer. Somebody who stands tall in the pocket. That isn’t a terrible thing, but it is also far easier for a pass rusher. Of the 12.5 sacks Mack had last year, nine of them came against quarterbacks who can’t be classified as athletic. In other words if Haskins doesn’t get the ball out fast? He’s not getting away.
