Eloy Is Back And The White Sox Are Starting A Reliever

-

The White Sox got some great news on Monday, as rookie outfielder Eloy Jimenez was officially activated from the injured list. The right-handed slugger last played on April 26, against the Tigers. That’s when he injured his ankle, banging it up against the left-field wall at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Jimenez rehabbed at Triple-A this past week and in five games he went 7-for-22, with a home run and a double.

In his first 21 MLB games Jimenez has three home runs, eight RBIs, with a slash line of .241/.294/.380.

Jimenez is starting in left against the Astros tonight, batting sixth in the lineup.

And that’s right-handed reliever Ryan Burr, who will make his first career start.

The White Sox had a spot open in their rotation after placing lefty Manny Bañuelos on the injured list with a shoulder issue.

Burr’s made 14 relief appearances this season, throwing 16.2 innings. He’s recorded a 4.32 ERA and 1.26 WHIP. He last pitched on Friday against the Blue Jays, throwing 21 pitches in one inning. His longest outing this season has been two innings on April 13.

So, it’s going to be a bullpen night for the White Sox in Houston to begin a four-game series. The Astros have won 13 of their last 15 games.
