Allen Robinson Already Sees Progress from Trubisky In Workouts

-

Wide receiver Allen Robinson proved to be an effective pickup for the Chicago Bears in 2018. He became the unquestioned go-to receiver on offense, making a slew of big plays down the stretch. He, like everybody else, has high expectations for 2019. Not only from himself but from the rest of the offense as well. Much of this hinges on the quarterback.

Mitch Trubisky didn’t have a perfect year last season, but it was unrealistic to expect one of him. It was his first in Matt Nagy’s complicated new offense. One that features a mixture of West Coast and college spread. All indicators are it’s detailed and complicated. Thus it’s going to take time to learn. Getting a full season under his belt was the first big step.

Now with the basics out of the way, he and the rest of the offense can start focusing on the more advanced features. This is something they started tinkering with during workouts in California. According to Robinson, the results thus far have been night and day compared to where they were this time last year.

Allen Robinson isn’t known for over the top optimism

The thing to remember about Robinson is he’s not known for being the most overly enthusiastic type. He is a level-headed, business-like sort of guy. Perhaps that’s why the Bears liked him so much. He fits that workman type of character they covet. So when he makes a statement like that, it’s worth paying attention to because he doesn’t say just for the sake of boosting morale.

He believes it, and he clearly believes in Trubisky. It’s not hard to see why. The quarterback is putting in work and is more engrossed in the system than ever before. That combined with a deeper offensive roster around him should create tons of opportunities for points this season. It’s all a matter of taking the practice lessons to the field on Sundays.
