It doesn’t matter if Luis Robert is sliding head-first, feet-first, on his hide or whatever because he keeps injuring his thumb. The White Sox prospect injured the same thumb in 2018, forcing him to miss a few months last year.
Robert will miss a few days after he injured his thumb trying to steal second base during an intrasquad game Tuesday.
Robert, stealing on his own, jammed left thumb on head first slide. Sox say it’s minor, say he’s expected back Thursday. Wearing an insert. Same thumb as last yr

Renteria on Robert: "Fortunately for us, it was jammed a little bit and he’s doing good. We are going to make sure he starts off everything well. We are just being very cautious."

Luckily for Robert and the White Sox, this latest mishap will only cost him a couple days of action. Last year, when Robert injured his thumb he was out until June. Put that thumb in bubble wrap!
Oh and DON’T SLIDE HEAD-FIRST EITHER!
While there are several positives to point to in regards to the White Sox rebuild, they have had a troubling amount of injuries. Robert missed a few months last year as noted above, while Dane Dunning is dealing with forearm issues right now after also missing a few months in 2018 with an arm injury. Michael Kopech won’t be back until 2020, recovering from Tommy John surgery and earlier in February Luis Basabe was sidelined with a broken hand.
As always with spring training, the most important part for all these guys is just stay healthy. Luis Robert has all the talent in the world. It would suck if he kept missing time with minor injuries like his thumb because he can be a star for the White Sox.
