VIDEO: Start Your Weekend Off With This 3-Run Bomb By Javier Baez

-

Javier Baez got off to a slow start in spring training, but he’s heating up right before the Cubs head out to Texas for Opening Day. Baez crushed a three-run home run to center field against the Rangers at Sloan Park, for his first homer in Cactus League play.

Baez has four RBIs today, as he started the scoring with another hard-hit ball in the first. He was credited with the RBI-single, as Kyle Schwarber scored from second after Hunter Pence misplayed the ball in left.

Regardless, Baez smashed this ball too.

Baez didn’t put up any spectacular numbers last spring training and was then runner-up in the NL MVP race. A performance in 2019 that’s anywhere near what Baez did last season would really make the Cubs offense good, with Kris Bryant expected to be back at 100 percent and the rest of the hitters with a new sense of urgency.
