Matt Davidson made his first ever appearance as a pitcher against the Rangers last season, when he was with the White Sox and now he’s still trying to make it as a reliever, but he looked pretty bad against Ben Zobrist and the Cubs on Friday.
Zobrist arrived to Cubs camp a little late and hasn’t had many plate appearances during spring training, but he jumped all over this Davidson pitch for a home run. It’s Zobrist’s first long ball in Arizona this year.

Davidson gave up an infield single to start the inning, but did get two quick outs afterward, including a strikeout. Yet, following two stolen bases, Davidson threw a wild pitch that allowed a run to score and then on the next pitch Zobrist took him deep to right field. Davidson then allowed another hard-hit single to left before he was pulled.
