The Cubs need to stop fucking around and sign Craig Kimbrel already. Brandon Morrow is out for at least the first month of the regular season and now his replacement to be the closer, Pedro Strop, is dealing with a hamstring strain.
The right-hander hasn’t been ruled out for Opening Day, but he won’t be throwing off a mound for a week after tweaking his right hamstring this past Saturday. It’s a different injury that sidelined him for the last few weeks of 2018. That was his left hamstring.
Maddon: Pedro Strop dealing with mild right hamstring strain. Had MRI on Monday. Still able to play catch, but likely will be held off a mound for the next week. Not ruled out for Opening Day yet.

Strop MRI showed a mild strain. He hurt his left hamstring last season. This one is on the right side. It happened on his final pitch on Saturday.

Cubs say its such a mild strain Strop can still throw but won't stress himself in a game, etc

Maddon on Strop: "It doesn’t look bad, but you don’t push a guy like that right now."

It doesn’t sound too serious and hopefully Strop will be all right in two weeks, but c’mon, why even take a chance here when there’s a guy still available that will greatly improve the team overall.
Joe, on Strop: "We'd like to think we're going to be able to get him ready for the beginning of the season. If not, maybe shortly thereafter. So, it's something we caught quickly. Again, I can't emphasize enough, it doesn't look bad, but you don't push a guy like that right now."

Just get Kimbrel!
