Did not see this coming. Even with Ian Happ struggling in spring training, you don’t usually see guys who have been in the majors for two years just get sent down after a bad month in the Cactus League. Yet, that’s exactly what the Cubs have done, as they’ve decided to send Happ to Triple-A, where he’ll start the 2019 season.
And obviously Happ is pretty pissed off.
Happ was apparently quite unhappy w decision. "He's not happy & he shouldn't be happy. He was surprised." Asked if he calmed down by end of convo, "That's pretty personal, I don't want to share that. He wasn't happy. We didn't want it to be that and we did not expect that."

Joe said Happ took it hard. They want him to play everyday and get back when he’s ready. Really has struggled from the left side a lot last year and in camp. And that’s his better side.

Joe Maddon said Ian Happ must accept going to the minors and embrace improving his overall game . “ Right now he doesn’t like any of us and I get it “
