If you have no clue what Copa de la Diversión is, here’s some background on the festivities happening down in the minors for the second straight year.

Via MiLB.com.

“Copa de la Diversión,” or “Fun Cup,” is a season-long event series specifically designed to embrace the culture and values that resonate most with participating teams’ local U.S. Hispanic/Latino communities.

The 2019 season will see 72 teams transform their brands to join in Copa’s mission to authentically connect MiLB teams with their diverse communities, and embrace and celebrate the culture and values that resonate most with Latinx fans nationwide.

On Monday, the team names, logos and uniforms were unveiled and they are amazing. The Cubs and White Sox are both having a few of their minor league affiliates participating in Copa de la Diversion, but the Brewers’ Triple-A team might just have the best name.

As far as the Cubs and White Sox minor league teams, the Iowa Cubs will be the “Demonios” while the Charlotte Knights will be the “Caballeros.”

Myrtle Beach Pelicans – Cubs Class-A Advanced team.

Eugene Emeralds – Cubs Class-A short season team.

Winston-Salem Dash – White Sox Class-A Advanced team.

Kannapolis Intimidators – White Sox Class-A short season team.

Outstanding.

The 2019 campaign includes 72 teams in 29 states designating almost 400 games for the Copa de la Diversión event series. More than 78 percent of all dates during MiLB’s season will feature at least one (1) “Copa de la Diversión”-designated game.
