With 24 Games Coached Between The Two, Who’s Been Better? Fred Hoiberg Or Jim Boylen?

-

48 games have been coached this year for the Chicago Bulls, 24 for Fred Hoiberg and 24 for Jim Boylen. Between these two coaches, watching the games hasn’t been easy and frustration has set in, not only for the fans but for the players as well.

Now between both of them, they rank in the bottom for pretty much every stat you can think of, except push-ups. But, is it skewed? Fred Hoiberg never had a healthy roster that fit the Hoiball style and with all the injuries he still went 5-19 in his 24 games as Head Coach. Surprisingly, Fred ran a better defense as well.

Thoughts On Fred Hoiberg

I am going to share my opinion on this and tell you that Fred was still not a very good Head Coach. All the drama that went on in that locker room in his tenure made this franchise look like a huge joke. Fred may have not gotten his fair shake, but he isn’t built for the sidelines, maybe a front office guy though. As a fan, I really wanted to see Hoiball with a roster suited for it. Though the question comes up, could Fred have implemented this system with grown men? The last person I think of when I hear leader, is Fred Hoiberg.

Thoughts On Jim Boylen

Honestly, I don’t know where to start. Jim Boylen couldn’t make it as a college Head Coach, and he isn’t going to make it as an NBA Head Coach. Boylen is constantly talking about team spirit and competitiveness but treats his players like children. His offensive system is nonexistent and he cannot get his players to buy into his brand of defense(Whatever that may be).  The Bulls gave Boylen his raise and will likely retain him through next season. I cannot see GarPax letting him go and paying him and Fred Hoiberg to just go away.

The fact is both of these guys aren’t Head Coach material and us fans have to suffer through another painful rebuild.

So, to answer the question of the title of the article, Who’s better? Fred or Jim? The answer is they both have their own flaws and I sometimes would rather gouge my eyes out than watch their respective brands of basketball.

Winner: NO ONE. CAUSE THE SUCK IS REAL AND THE TANK IS ON.
