The Cubs may not be signing as many players as fans would like this offseason, but they’re certainly busy expanding their coaching and training staff. Their latest hire is Adam Beard, who’s worked with the Cleveland Browns for the past four years.
Beard has been named the Director of High Performance for the Cubs, which is a newly created position with the team. He had the same role with the Browns and was the first to do it in the NFL.
Before taking on the position with the Browns, Beard spent six years in the Welsh Rugby Union.

"As a Performance Director, you don’t have to be an expert in each of these areas – you can’t be – but you have to understand and communicate with them, because ultimately you have the final say on whether someone is fit to play or not." @ajbeardohttps://t.co/iuqo1IvKZO
