All right, so we don’t have to obsess over Bryce Harper 24/7, so here’s a quick look at all the free agent relievers who have been linked to the Cubs so far this offseason.

Andrew Miller

Cubs Have Apparently Shown Interest In Andrew Miller

Had knee injuries and was pretty bad in 2018, with Cleveland, but he’s also been awesome for several years before this past season. Should have plenty of teams interested. Who knows how much the Cubs are willing to spend.

Zach Britton

He’s been brought up by several beat writers, but the overall sense is that Britton will have too many suitors and will be out of the Cubs’ price range. I guess you can say the same about Miller.

Adam Ottavino

The right-hander is absolutely filthy.

But with that nastiness comes the concern that he can get wild. The Cubs obviously don’t want another Tyler Chatwood situation to happen, but of course previous signings shouldn’t cloud their judgement from going after relievers they believe can improve the team.

Joakim Soria

REPORT: Cubs Interested In Free Agent Reliever Joakim Soria

Maybe a one-year deal? Sure, why not. Or don’t sign him, cool with that too.

Cody Allen

His name has been popped up and connected to the Cubs by Bruce Levine and in The Athletic from Sahadev Sharma. Allen had a great run with Cleveland from 2013-17, pitching in at least 67.1 innings and recording a sub-3 ERA for five straight seasons. Then in 2018, Allen was bad like Miller, with a 4.70 ERA and 1.36 WHIP. Maybe they can get him on a cheaper deal?

Other relievers mentioned by Sharma include Joe Kelly, David Robertson, Brad Boxberger and Blake Parker as far as free agents go.

On Tuesday morning, Jesse Rogers was on ESPN 1000 and he also brought up right-hander A.J. Ramos.

Obviously there are a lot of relievers on the market and the Cubs will certainly have plenty of quality arms to pick from.
