Field made his MLB debut in 2018, with the Rays. He played in 62 games with Tampa Bay before getting demoted back to Triple-A and eventually DFA’d. He was briefly picked up by the Indians before he was let go again and that’s when he was claimed by the Twins in early August.

Field appeared in 21 games for the Twins last season, posting a .759 OPS in 52 at-bats. The right-handed hitter slugged .500 with Minnesota, hitting three home runs and four doubles in his short time there.

Overall in 2018, Field slashed .222/.254/.403, with nine home runs in 221 at-bats over 83 games.

Field was a fifth round draft pick by the Rays in 2013 out of Arizona. He was part of the 2012 Arizona College World Series championship team.

In the minors, Field has a career slash line of .270/.330/.440, during a span of five seasons and more than 2,000 at-bats. In 2018, Field had a .700 OPS with three minor league teams.

He’s played all three outfield positions in the minors and the big leagues and who knows, emergency pitcher too?

On Wednesday, the Cubs announced that they claimed left-handed pitcher Jerry Vasto off waivers from the Royals.
