Well, on Friday I wrote about how the Cubs coaching staff was pretty much set for 2019, as ESPN’s Jesse Rogers reported that Brandon Hyde will return as bench coach. Hyde interviewed for several managerial positions, but will stick around in Chicago. However, it appears as though there will be one more coaching change for the Cubs.

The Cubs fired hitting coach Chili Davis, hiring Anthony Iapoce as his replacement and now they’ll need someone to take assistant hitting coach Andy Haines position. According to Jon Heyman, Haines has been hired by the Brewers to be their new hitting coach in 2019.

The Cubs promoted Haines from minor league hitting instructor to assistant hitting coach after the 2017 season.

So, Haines continues to climb the ladder in his coaching career. Congrats. Hopefully he absorbed everything Chili Davis taught and he’ll spread that to the Brewers. 😉

Darnell Coles was the Brewers hitting coach from 2015-18, but he resigned after this season ended and then joined the Diamonadbacks as their hitting coach.

Haines does have a connection to Brewers star outfielder Christian Yelich.

Haines went to and played baseball for Eastern Illinois University.

So, the Cubs will in fact have one more coaching change entering the 2019 season.
