Maybe it’s not that big of a surprise, but the big news from today’s 25-man roster for the Cubs is that right-handed reliever Carl Edwards Jr. has been left off.
Edwards was awful in September and his velocity was down in his last outing. He apparently experienced some discomfort in his forearm.
Carl Edwards Jr. experienced right forearm discomfort after pitching on Sunday, so #Cubs decided to keep him off the one-game playoff roster and let him test it out today and see where he's at should they beat Colorado and advance to the next round.

So, with no Edwards, the Cubs are still going with 11 pitchers and 14 position players.

Jon Lester will make the start against the Rockies, while Cole Hamels, Kyle Hendricks and Mike Montgomery are also on the roster. The other big news is that Pedro Strop is back and Alec Mills has basically taken Edwards’ spot for now.

And as expected, no Addison Russell.
