Make Or Break: Tarik Cohen Goes Berserk In The Desert

-

Make some noise! The chains fell from the fridges and Hell got just a tad more frosty yesterday as Baker Mayfield led the Browns to their first win in 635 days! Luckily for Browns fans, Huey Jackson didn’t have a choice about inserting Mayfield into the lineup. Otherwise, the 3-33 joke of a coach would have inevitably stuck with the ill-fitting Tyrod Taylor and lost to the Jets. Baker looked confident and competent, and it would seem a new era is brewing in Cleveland.

We’ll cover Mayfield and his crew in next week’s article. For now, let’s focus on two over-looked players that could either make or break your line up for this week. It’s going to take some serious stones to start these guys, but they are sneaky plays with high upside.

TARIK COHEN GETS A TD OR TWO

The Human Joystick hasn’t brought much joy to the lives of fantasy owners that bought into the Matt Nagy-Tyreek Hill comparison hype so far. Instead, the 5’6″ running back has been entirely irrelevant, watching from the sidelines as all of his jet sweeps end up in the hands of Taylor Gabriel (who could have seen that coming…).

Take heart, Cohen owners! Arizona has given up the most points to, well, basically every position this year but especially to the running backs. Cohen should have no problem slicing up this defense once Khalil Mack and the boys up front have sent Sam Bradford off to the retirement home (if you don’t think this is Bradford’s last game, you are nuts). The Bears should be up big in this game and there shouldn’t be any crazy comeback mounted by the Cards. That should afford Cohen plenty of opportunities to get the ball in his hands, and it’s only a matter of time before he breaks a big play or two on a worn down Cardinals defense.

Cohen scores his first two touchdowns of the year this week. One on special teams and one on offense. Assuming Trubisky remembers he’s 5’6″ and not 6’5″…

ROC THOMAS FINISHES AS AN RB2

Wait, what? The Matchbox Twenty guy? No! The UDFA from Jacksonville State University had a huge game in the preseason, putting up over 130 yards and two scores, but has been buried behind Cook and Murray since then. Well, this week the sad-sack Buffalo Bills are visiting Minnie, and the Vikes are favored by a ridiculous 16.5 points. Hell, the Vikings might be up that much by the end of the first quarter.

Dalvin Cook’s “cramps” will keep him out of the game and Lat Murray won’t get all of the work. Especially not once the Vikings are up by a hundred. That paves the way for Roc Thomas to get on the field and show what he can do. He will make the most of the opportunity. The UDFA has excellent hands and some serious wheels. Don’t be surprised if he turns a short catch into a long run for a TD on Sunday. This is a play best reserved for deeeeep leagues or those squads incredibly anemic at the position. He’s also a great dart throw in a DFS gpp.

When you win that big DFS tournament with Roc Thomas in your lineup, please remember to make a donation a percentage of your winnings to a worthy cause in Sport’s Mockery’s name.  #payitforward
