Khalil Mack Has Been More Productive Than 3 Entire NFL Defenses

-

People just don’t know what a unit looks like with a superstar until they have one. Khalil Mack is a superstar. Experts tried to explain how different the Chicago Bears defense would be upon his arrival from Oakland, but even then many kept their expectations modest. Two games into the 2018 season, those expectations have gone right out the window.

Mack has utterly dominated the first two games in a Bears uniform. So much in fact that the rest of the defense has stepped up their game to a point where people are thinking big. Amidst the sudden euphoria of this return of the Monsters of the Midway is the ongoing bafflement that the Raiders willingly traded the 27-year old stud.

Sure, they got a nice package of draft picks in return but the odds of them finding another play of Mack’s caliber is remote. No one need understand that further than a wild stat that came out comparing the outside linebacker with the entire Raiders defense through the first two weeks.

Khalil Mack isn’t just better than the Raiders defense either

One positive note that Oakland can take from this? They aren’t the only entire defense that Mack is superior to at this point in the season. The New York Giants are worst in the NFL when it comes to impact plays, boasting just one sack, one interception and zero forced fumbles. Not enough for you? Then there’s the Kansas City Chiefs. They have two sacks and one interception like Mack but only one forced fumble.

This singular man has produced more impact on his team than 11 total men on three other teams. That is positively insane and a testament to how ridiculously talented he is. Watching him you’d never think he missed all of training camp and preseason. Try to imagine what’ll happen when he’s in full football shape and has a keen understanding of this defensive system.

High draft picks are great and all, but there’s always plenty of those. There are only so many players that come along like Mack. Everything about it feels like the Bears pulled off one of the great robberies in recent NFL history.
