Javier Baez and Hank Aaron in the same category? Hell yeah!

So, Baez continued his MVP campaign on Tuesday night, going 2-for-4, with two RBIs, two runs scored and a home run.

Right before Baez blasted his 33rd long ball of the season, WGN showed the following graphic, comparing his 2018 season to Hank Aaron’s 1961 numbers.

In 1961, Aaron hit 34 home runs, with 39 doubles, 10 triples, 120 RBIs and 21 stolen bases. It turns out that no one since Aaron in 1961 has recorded at least 37 doubles, 9 triples, 32 home runs, 105 RBIs and 21 stolen bases.

Those happen to be Baez’s numbers so far this season. Well, before his two-run homer against the Diamondbacks.

So, Baez now has 33 home runs, 107 RBIs, 37 doubles, 9 triples and 21 stolen bases. Again, no one has put up those numbers in the same season since Hank Aaron 57 years ago.

Baez is also on pace to be the RBI leader in the National League. He would be the first Cubs player since Sammy Sosa in 2001, to lead the NL in RBIs.

And of course there’s the MVP race. Baez still remains in the race and he’s starting to heat up again, as the Cubs try to clinch their third division title in a row, led by El Mago.

In the last six games, Baez is 8-for-21, with three home runs, seven RBIs and six runs scored. Coming up big when the Cubs need him the most.
