Pedro Strop’s hamstring injury was a huge bummer for the Cubs, as they were already dealing with the possibility of not having Brandon Morrow back this year. That concern became a reality on Tuesday, when Theo Epstein announced that Morrow’s year was over. However, Strop is feeling really confident about his return and he says he could even be back before the end of the regular season.
Yup, that’s right, even though Strop was ruled out for the final weeks left in September after straining his hamstring against the Nationals, he’s in good spirits, hoping he can pitch in the last two games before the start of the postseason.

That would be awesome because he and the Cubs get to see just how sharp he is before October and hopefully by that time the division is wrapped up, so Strop can be used in low leverage spots.

With all that being said, the Cubs will be cautious with Strop. You can’t rush him back and then risk losing him for the postseason. But hey, if Strop is ready to go and the team clears him to return before the playoffs, then that would be a huge win for the Cubs.
So, fingers crossed and hopefully Strop comes back stronger than ever for a long postseason run.
