30-Year-Old Cubs Fan Brings The House Down With His Singing Of The National Anthem

-

Stefan Xidas has been a Cubs fan for as long as he can remember and although he’s only 30-years-old, Xidas has probably reached the peak of his Cubs fandom after he earned the opportunity to sing the National Anthem before last night’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

In mid-August, Xidas presented Cubs chairman, Tom Ricketts, with an offer that he couldn’t refuse. If Xidas could raise $5,000 for Special Olympics, Ricketts would agree to let him sing the National Anthem before a game at Wrigley Field.

Xidas, who has Down Syndrome, started a GoFundMe page and not only hit his $5,000 goal — he more than doubled it by raising $18,000.

Even after achieving his goal, Xidas still wasn’t sure his dream would come true. In his letter to Ricketts he stated,

“If Tom isn’t able to make this happen, I will still be donating the money to Special Olympics.”

Not only did Ricketts make it happen, the Cubs matched the total to donate to Special Olympics.

And before last night’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers, Xidas delivered an outstanding rendition of the National Anthem.

Check it out.

Sad to say that the Cubs lost and continue to shit the bed against the Brewers but at least Xidas created some memories that would last a lifetime.

Nicely done, Stefan!
