It’s pretty sad that the jokes aren’t jokes anymore about Joe West. As soon as the umpires were revealed for this weekend series between the Cubs and Phillies, fans braced themselves for Joe West being behind the plate. It took him all of two batters to once again prove what a piece of shit he is.
Only in Joe West’s world does he think fans show up to games to watch him. It’s not that he makes awful calls, everyone ump does, it’s that he tries to egg on the players after he screws up and that said player is rightfully upset.
That’s what happened with Javier Baez in the first inning, when he took ball four inside, but it was called strike three by West. Baez was pissed, had some words with him and then West followed him, trying to provoke Baez.
Just complete trash.

It's not that he makes questionable calls. Every umpire has bad moments. It's that he consistently is the one instigating tension and arguments with players. That is not the behavior of a professional.

Pathetic bullshit.
