Matt Davidson Pitched In His First Pro Game And It Was Pretty Amazing

-

The Chicago White Sox got blown out by the Texas Rangers 11-3, Friday night, as Dylan Covey was roughed up early on. Yet, fans still got some entertainment if they stuck around until the end, which featured Matt Davidson pitching for the first time in his professional career.

The third baseman pitched back in his high school days, but Friday night was the first time Davidson had ever pitched at any level in pro ball. The results? How about a 1-2-3 inning that included a web gem and a strikeout by Davidson.

As you saw on the strikeout, Davidson wasn’t just lobbing the ball up there, hoping guys hit it at someone. He was throwing all sorts of off-speed pitches, including the last one to get the swing and miss.

Hey, it was a brutal game to watch for the most part, but still pretty fun to watch a position player come in and pitch, but to actually look good doing it was impressive and cool to watch.

Who knows, if the White Sox really want to get creative this season they can always make Davidson the next Shohei Ohtani.
