Mitch Trubisky has heard plenty of comparisons for himself over the past couple months. New teammate Trey Burton admitted he saw visions of Philadelphia Eagles Pro Bowler Carson Wentz. Mike Ditka claimed him to be a more talented version of former Bears icon Jim McMahon. Others have referenced former MVP Rich Gannon from the Oakland Raiders. It’s quite an array of names.
Yet these are all men who haven’t played with Trubisky. So what happens with somebody who had to go against him in practice every single day decides to offer his two cents? Starting safety Eddie Jackson got his chance to do just that. He appeared on SiriusXM NFL radio to talk about the state of the Bears.
Soon enough the subject of Trubisky came up and he was asked what his impressions were. Without blinking, Jackson dropped perhaps the most exciting name to date that he sees visions of.

Ryan Pace will love Eddie Jackson comparing Trubisky to Drew Brees
It’s rather fitting that Jackson chose Drew Brees in this instance. Remember that the Bears GM is Ryan Pace. He came from New Orleans in 2015. Before that, the man had a front row seat for Brees’ rise to superstardom that included so many shattered passing records and a Super Bowl championship in 2009. To Pace, he’s the standard by which all others are measured.
For him to spend a #2 pick on Trubisky, it was a clear indication that he saw capabilities that could rival Brees if cultivated properly. Now that Jackson, a defender no less is seeing those traits start to emerge it has to feel exciting for the team as a whole. Pace was successful in constructing his envisioned system from head coach to weapons around his young quarterback.
The only thing left is to let Trubisky do his thing. If Jackson is right, the Chicago will not be a place defenses want to place.
