Addison Russell spent a few hours at a Denver hospital on Sunday night and didn’t fly with the team to Cleveland following the 9-7 victory by the Chicago Cubs over the Colorado Rockies.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Russell had an allergic reaction to something he ate from the postgame spread on Sunday. Russell said he feels better after going to the hospital and staying in Denver overnight. The shortstop joined the Cubs in Cleveland on Monday, as the team enjoyed a day off before starting a quick two-game set against the Indians on Tuesday.

Russell, who has a shellfish allergy, said he “blew up” after eating something he thinks might have had shrimp in it but was mistakenly labeled.

Russell said he’ll be ready to play Tuesday and maybe playing in Cleveland will spark some power out of the infielder because he hasn’t hit many hard balls as of late. He has 14 hits this season, with four doubles and no home runs in 64 at-bats.
