Notorious Cutler Hater Is Already a Mitch Trubisky Fan

-

Charles Woodson was surprised and impressed by Mitch Trubisky

Following the Bears’ Monday night loss to Minnesota, Woodson and and Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young were both asked about their impressions of the rookie. Young saw a clear sense of hope he brought to the team and the fans. With more time and help around him he has a chance to be good.

When it was Woodson’s turn to talk, one would think he’d stick by his original stance regarding Bears quarterbacks. Turns out, not so much.

When a player can make a believer out of Woodson, that’s saying something. Remember this is a man who played with MVPs during most of his career including Rich Gannon, Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers. He also finished it up with Derek Carr. So he knows a thing or two about what good quarterbacks look like. His praise of Trubisky speaks volumes.

He’s not wrong either. The penalties are positively killing the Bears this year. Through five games they’ve run 852 offensive plays and committed 18 penalties. That ties them for second-most in the NFL this season. Nine of them were offensive holes and seven were false starts. That speaks to undisciplined players.

Subscribe to the BFR podcast and ride shotgun with Dave and Ficky as they break down Bears football like nobody else.

Given the lack of weaponry they have, the best way to help Trubisky moving forward is keeping him in advantageous down and distances.
