Dowell Loggains Explains Why He Keeps Calling Trubisky Special

-

Dowell Loggains lauds his talent and his unselfish attitude

In the end it was a multitude of things that led him to that statement. Much of it built over time from watching Trubisky in college to how he’s interacted with teammate since he was drafted. Loggains has seen his fair share of quality quarterbacks over the past decade and even coached a few of them. He trusts what he sees is what the Bears have looked for.

Before providing that answer Loggains explained one of the moments from the Vikings game that people didn’t notice. A moment where Trubisky showed just how rapidly he’s picking up the pro game. It came on a 1st and 17 situation in the first half. Trubisky picked up seven yards with pass that set up 2nd and 10. After examining the Vikings defense he realized Tarik Cohen was lined up against a linebacker.

That was an obvious mismatch and so he made a protection check. Unfortunately Charles Leno committed a false start, costing the Bears a huge opportunity for a big play. It’s little mistakes like that Loggains said they need to clean up if they’re going to let Trubisky showcase his skills. As it turns out he’s not the only one making such statements.

Former scout explains why Trubisky isn’t a concern moving forward

Louis Riddick is a former safety, scout and NFL personnel director. He appeared on the ESPN program “Mike & Mike” to talk about Trubisky. Suffice to say he was impressed.

If nothing else it’s clear Trubisky is making believers out of people. That’s so hard to do, especially in a quarterback-jaded town like Chicago. Given enough time there’s every reason to think he’ll be good. It becomes a question of whether GM Ryan Pace is up to the challenge of building a proper offense around him. So yeah, maybe Loggains has good reason to use that word.
