The Cubs Have The Dodgers Right Where They Want Them, Down 3-0 In The NLCS

-

Sure, scoring a total of four runs in three games isn’t good and walking the opposing pitcher with two outs and the bases loaded isn’t ideal and neither is being a loss away from elimination, but the Chicago Cubs have the Los Angeles Dodgers right where they want them, down 3-0 in the NLCS.

Yes, it’s true that despite having a lead in each of the first three games on home runs, the Cubs have proceeded to give up those leads and lose. But hey, even after a 6-1 loss, the Cubs have the Dodgers exactly where they want them.

Well, not exactly. I mean, yeah it’d be nice if the Cubs were actually up 3-0 and a win away from going to the World Series again, but you gotta work with what you have. What the Cubs have right now is Jake Arrieta going in Game 4. Win that and then it’s Jose Quintana. Get it to 3-2 and oh baby we have Jon Lester on the bump. Get through Game 6 and you already know the saying, anything can happen in Game 7.

Obviously the Cubs offense has to produce more than one or two runs and hey maybe Joe Maddon actually starts Ian Happ, or Dodgers pitchers stop being really good.

Anyway, can the Cubs reach a Game 7? Why not. You thought they were dead multiple times last year. OK, fine, I know it’s not 2016 anymore, but you’ve still witnessed this team, this year, overcome adversity.

It’s OK, you laughed it off then and you can laugh it off again right now.

But remember, Arrieta Game 4, Quintana Game 5, Lester Game 6 and anything can happen Game 7.
