Last night, Sports Mockery broke the news that Cubs shortstop Addison Russell has been accused of cheating on and hitting his wife Melisa. Her Instagram post implied the conclusion of their relationship and some of Russell’s transgressions.
Things just got worse for Russell.
According to Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times, the MLB plans to open an investigation into the allegations. League officials hope to interview both Melisa and her friend, whose gruesome details of the accusations were left for the world to see in a comment on Melisa’s original Instagram post.
Russell has been going through an awful slump to begin the season, and things don’t look to be getting any better for the young star.

***UPDATE: Bruce Levine of 670 The Score just tweeted that according to his MLB source, the league is “looking into” the allegations against Russell but there is currently no official investigation.
A source at MLB said that they are looking into these allegations against Addison Russell. The person stated this is not an investigation .
