The 5 Rules of Ryan Pace 1st Round Drafting To Not Forget

-

Rule #4:  He must have met the team privately

This is a pretty straightforward rule. So far through two drafts the Bears have both times taken a player they met privately in the weeks leading up to the action. One thing that has become apparent is Pace is a man of details. He does his homework on each and every player he plans to sign or draft. That’s a big reason why a number of his undrafted free agents and late round picks have had success. Men like Jordan Howard and Cameron Meredith.

Private meetings are a great way for him to get more of an in-depth feel for how a player might operate within their system. Not to mention how he interacts with coaches and displays his personality. Keeping that in mind, here are the known players the Bears have met with privately.

  1. Patrick Mahomes*
  2. DeShone Kizer
  3. Alvin Kamara
  4. Tarik Cohen
  5. O.J. Howard*
  6. Evan Engram
  7. Kenny Golladay
  8. Garrett Bolles
  9. Cameron Lee
  10. Jonathan Allen*
  11. Myles Garrett*
  12. Dlyan Donahue
  13. James Onwualu
  14. Rueben Foster*
  15. Marshon Lattimore*
  16. Ezra Robinson
  17. Malik Hooker*
  18. Jamal Adams*
  19. Josh Jones

The ones with asterisks next to their names are all projected top 10 picks in the draft. Keep in mind there are only 19 names on that list though. Teams are allowed 30 private visits every predraft process. So 11 players are as yet unaccounted for. Still this narrows the field a bit into who they might be thinking.
