Jose Abreu Leaves White Sox Game After Doing The Splits

-

The good news is that Jose Abreu could’ve done a lot more damage to his body after unintentionally doing the splits during Wednesday’s Chicago White Sox game against the Kansas City Royals, but he didn’t. Abreu did exit the game in the fifth inning after attempting to field a ground ball near first base, however it looked worse than the end result.

Abreu’s left foot gave out, causing him to do the splits. Luckily, Abreu didn’t tear his groin, but is day-to-day with a hip flexor strain.

Nevertheless, painful for Abreu.

The White Sox first baseman had a rough open to the 2017 season, but was on a roll before the injury. Abreu raised his batting average 70 points in the last four games.

His name was talked about during the offseason as another possible player that could be traded away and obviously any missed time could weaken Abreu’s value. How he comes back, if he misses significant time, will be looked at much closer.
