For the past month of so, I’ve been writing about Cubs right fielder Jason Heyward’s attempt to completely revamp his swing. News broke immediately following the Cubs World Series championship that Heyward would purchase a house in Mesa, Arizona and work with the Cubs hitting staff to try to rectify an extremely disappointing 2016 season, at least from Heyward’s perspective.

After watching video after video of Heyward’s new swing, it’s apparent that he has made some pretty clear changes, most notably his hand placement. I’ve been asked by a good amount of people about why the swing is changing, what is the difference, and will it work among other questions. To be honest, I’ve said the same thing since Heyward started this entire process.

Let’s see how it looks versus live pitching.

There are so many components that go into what makes a good swing so if you’re one of the many Cubs fans that really don’t understand exactly what the hell is going on during all the videos you’ve been watching of Heyward swinging, an MLB hitting expert has taken the liberty of explaining Heyward’s new swing in very simple terms that all baseball fans can understand.
