12 minutes into the New Year, the first baby of 2017 was born to Aaron and Ellen Dalbey. The baby girl arrived at AMITA Health Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village and weighed just under six pounds. Even though her weight was relatively low, that’s not what stood out most about the newborn. Aaron and Ellen decided to give the little girl a name that would honor and celebrate their favorite baseball team, the Chicago Cubs.

They named her Wrigley Rose.

I’m a fan of “Wrigley Ivy” but I suppose it would be a bit of an overkill.

Obviously, little Wrigley is destined to live the life of a champion and she now will be tasked with the impossible mission of answering the question, “Wait, like the baseball field?” a million times as she grows up.

I’m also interested to see how many babies will be born around the first week of August 2017. My reason? I’m sure there were plenty of Cubs fans that “celebrated” with their significant other on that November night when the Cubs won it all and the first week of August would be exactly nine months away from that special “celebration.”

I nominate the first boy born in August 2017 to be named Theo Bryant.
