Seven was good the previous night, but I guess an eight-run deficit was too much to overcome and the White Sox fell back below .500 last night after falling to the Tigers, 11-8. Hopefully, Chicago ace Chris Sale can keep the Tigers’ offense in check. However, Sale hasn’t been quite as sharp as he was early in the season and has given up four or more runs in three of his last four starts, including five runs on 11 hits in six innings against the Royals last Thursday. Sale didn’t once give up more than three runs during his 9-0 start. He was able to get some help from his offense that night and did pick up his 10th win of the season.
Let’s hope that White Sox offense can give Sale some more help this evening. They’ll face right-hander Mike Pelfrey, who has just one win to his credit in 12 starts this season. Unfortunately, that win came against Chris Sale and the South Siders 11 days ago. On that night in Detroit, Pelfrey gave up two runs and five hits over six innings in the Tigers’ 7-4 victory.
Here’s everything else you need to know about tonight’s series finale.
