Chicago White Sox right-hander Mat Latos has struggled a bit in his last three starts, posting a 7.63 ERA, but has still managed to stay undefeated on the season by getting a lot of help from his offense. He had a 0.74 ERA to go along with his 4-0 start and hopes to get a bit of that magic back tonight as the White Sox look to even up the series with the visiting Astros. He’ll see some new faces tonight as the Astros have a couple of their young prospects, outfielder Tony Kemp and third baseman Colin Moran, in the starting lineup for the first time in tonight’s contest. Both were called up this week from the Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies.
Houston will counter with right-hander Doug Fister, who’s posted a 2.70 ERA during the month of May, going 2-0 in three starts and has thrown five quality starts in a row for the last-place Astros. He’ll be looking to deal the White Sox their fourth straight loss, which would be their longest losing streak of the season. The South Siders also dropped three straight from April 16-18.
Here’s everything else you need to know about tonight’s matchup.
