15-0. That’s the combined record of tonight’s starting pitchers as Chris Sale and the Chicago White Sox host Josh Tomlin and the Cleveland Indians.
Sale has been about as good as you can be this 2016 season. He’s won nine out of nine starts, has the third-best ERA in all of baseball, trailing only Cy Young winners Jake Arrieta and Clayton Kershaw, and will look to be MLB’s first ten-game winner. Sale threw a complete game his last time out, giving up only one run on four hits against the Houston Astros last Thursday.
Cleveland will counter with their own undefeated pitcher in the form of right-hander Josh Tomlin, who’s won six of his seven starts. His 3.56 ERA is good for a top 25 spot in the American League and he’s coming off of a solid outing as well. He gave up only two runs on five hits in 7 2/3 innings last Thursday in a win against the Reds.
