We threw out the question earlier today and now we have the answer. After leaving Friday night’s game against the Giants, Jason Heyward returns to the lineup tonight and will bat second against the St. Louis Cardinals as the Cubs look to even up the series at one game apiece.
While Jason Heyward has never faced tonight’s Cardinals starter Michael Wacha, his Cubs teammates have found some success against the right-hander. Collectively, tonight’s Chicago lineup has a .353 average against Wacha with four home runs and eight RBIs. Just on his own, Anthony Rizzo has gone 10-for-22 (.455) with two homers and four runs batted in. Jorge Soler and Kris Bryant, who returns to third base tonight, have also taken Wacha deep.
Tonight’s Cardinals lineup will face Jason Hammel, who’ll be looking to bounce back after suffering his first defeat of the season in his last outing, giving up four runs in six innings in a loss to the Brewers last Thursday.
Here’s everything else you need to know about tonight’s matchup.
