Schwarberless Cubs Offense Looks To Keep Rolling As Jason Hammel Makes First Start Of The Season

378

Well, the second leg of the road trip didn’t start as planned what with the Kyle Schwarber injury and all, but even without him, the Chicago Cubs still put up 14 runs last night in the series opener in Arizona. Anthony Rizzo matched a career high with six runs batted in while Addison Russell and Dexter Fowler knocked in two apiece. The luxury of depth. The Cubs’ offense has scored 29 runs over their first three games and will look to keep piling it on tonight at Chase Field.

Joe Maddon has obviously had to make changes to the lineup this evening as Schwarber was lined up to be Hammel’s regular catcher for the season, much like David Ross is for Jon Lester and it is Ross that gets the start tonight at catcher. Jorge Soler will take over duties in left field.

Here’s everything else you need to know for tonight’s matchup.
