According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter,  Dowell Loggains is the leading candidate to replace Adam Gase as the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears.

Gase was officially hired by the Miami Dolphins early on Saturday.

Whoever replaces Gase, it will be the sixth offensive coordinator hired by the Bears in the last eight seasons.

Loggains was hired prior to the 2015 season as the quarterback coach after having the same coaching position for the Cleveland Browns in 2014. Prior to that, he was also the offensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans from 2012-13. The Titans offense was ranked 26th Loggains’ first season and then jumped to 22nd in 2013. Tennessee went 6-10 and 7-9 during those two seasons with Loggains as the offensive coordinator.

The 35-year-old is considered to have a great offensive mind, similar to Gase and how he was regarded around the NFL.

Loggains boasts two years of experience as offensive coordinator with the Titans and is considered an innovative mind and excellent communicator, similar to Gase. He and Cutler are like-minded individuals who work well together. He’s just 35 years old and could be considered an up-and-coming name in the coaching ranks.

The Bears own control of Loggains for another year, so they would have the right to deny outside interest. Essentially, the team would have to let him walk.

With Loggains’ help, Jay Cutler had a career best 92.3 quarterback rating and threw his fewest amount of interceptions (11) since 2011, when he only played in 10 games and threw seven.

There are other candidates out there, but it may just come down to if Bears head coach John Fox wants to promote Loggains or not.

So, what do you think Bears fans, would Dowell Loggains be the right choice as the new OC? There would at least be some familiarity between him and Cutler, who as of now still is believed to be a lock to be the starting quarterback next season.
