As the NFL off-season prepare to get officially underway with the scouting combine, an event meant to test the current 2015 college class in their mental and physical aptitudes, the Chicago Bears make final preparations.  Coaches and scouts swear by the combine, believing it to be a critical part of the process towards finding the best possible players in every class.

So what does the history of this event say about some of the most prominent Bears players?  Here is an overview of the big names, offensively and defensively and what the results were during their combine showings.

Jay Cutler

40-yard dash:  4.77 seconds

Bench press:  23 reps at 225 lbs

Vertical leap:  N/A

Wonderlic:  26

Scouting Report:

“From a physical skill set, I think Cutler has the biggest arm in the draft. I think he has a quicker release than either of the other two (Matt Leinart and Vince Young). He’s tough. I think he played behind a very poor offensive line without a whole lot of help. … When I look at that kid and what he did on tape, he can make throws that I don’t think the other two kids can make.”

Round Drafted:  1st
